Hypoglycemia/Anxiety symptoms way worse with Merina IUD - Any other Australians out there?

Hi everyone

I am in Australia and just joined this forum yesterday. I am so glad I found this and the posts about people getting Hypoglycemia and Diabetes from the Mirena IUD.

I already had reactive hypoglycemia when I had the IUD put in but since then (about 8 weeeks) I have developed terrible anxiety and my hypoglycemic symptoms have gone through the roof in spite of me not having broken my diet for more than 6 months. I am just tired all the time, my face is tingling, I'm waking through the night and can't seem to sleep past 4am, I feel light headed and am battling anxiety every time I need to go somewhere. I daren't drive most days either.

I have had to quit on a project I started over here in Western Australia because of the overwhelming anxiety I am suffering from and obviously the doctors over here are clueless that there have been any problems with this thing anywhere else.

I saw the doctor that put mine in the other day and mentioned the hypoglymemia symptoms being out of control and she had no ideas as to why they might be worse - so obviously in spite of forums like this and whatever else has come out in the US - they are inflicting this Mirena thing on more and more Australian women now.

There is a waiting list to have it inserted through Family Planning so I had it done privately.

I have to wait until Tuesday to have it removed and I will make sure I take along some of the info I have found on the internet about the Mirena and the problems people have had with it.

Would love to hear from anyone in Australia or anyone in the US or elsewhere to let me know where things stand with this thing in the US now.

I have seen posts from 2007 where people talked about starting a class action against the manufacturer - did any of that happen?
