Re: Drugs for Parasites forum
What about those of us whose infection no longer is limited to the intestines?
DE isn't going to do me any good at all. And if it is so effective, why haven't the veterinary drug companies jumped all over it?
With concerns over food safety, wouldn't it make sense for a veterinary drug company to brand their own DE? I think so. If it worked.
There are withdrawl times for animals intended for food. The EU has recently legislated some of these in horses intended for food. That means added costs if horses bound for slaughter have to be kept (and FED) for an additional period of time to ensure no chemicals/medications remain in their system before slaughter.
Every Tuesday one can watch the Ontario Livestock Exchange auctions. You'll see horses being sold for meat at as low as 0.20/lb. This is a business entirely driven by profit with very low margins of it. I imagine if they were able to use DE to deworm horses and have their meat be safe for human consumption immediately, it would have happened.
I just don't want to be sick anymore. And I am, quite literally, willing to do anything at this point.
