Re: The Dentist
Gardening in barefeet seems okie dokie. Around stuff that is heavy, ummmm, guess that's how we learn... at any age. Amazing how the body does things to protect itself, like swell up to create its own 'cast' of sorts.
Broken toes was pretty much a given in ballet. I only had Xrays done once on a broken toe thing. Then on, I pretty much knew what the deal was. For men, leaping, getting off the ground, and the landing, is the thing.
Yeah, 'dem things hurt, the toes. What hurt more were shin splints, or torn tendons and ligaments. Broken toes mended quickly. I pulled a groin that took 1 1/2 years to heal. Fortunately for today, I stopped just before I ruined my knees and feet, tho at the time it was hard to stop.
One thing that has helped enormously are shoe inserts. Tradename are Alzners. They can be had to a song today, and they have absolutely corrected my feet from the wear and tear, which was leading to bunions and other things. But with them, fatabulous. Your friend, as a female ballet dancer, on pointe for years... oh boy. That has also got to be as painful as Chinese foot binding, where are what pointe shoes are essentially... I feel for her.
So, your sweetie at your beck and call now? Heh...
