What causes peeling lips?

and please don't say parasites. So I saw this forum...and was like okay...that's interesting...there's a forum about it here. I experience some peeling...mostly my bottom lip (just started in high school and hasn't really stopped since)...as a result my bottom lip is slighlty pinker than the top. Oh well. I initially thought it was just bad chapped lips but now I'm not sure. I just bite the peeling part off with my teeth (um I can't be the only one who does that?)...but now there is an actual name for this...I'll try to read more about it on this forum and do a little more research via google.
