That's exactly right.
Why isn't the OP of this topic posting saying "don't cut calories to lose weight?" because we certainly see a horrible recidivism rate with diets of ALL kinds. Doesn't matter which kind - low carb, high carb, low fat, high fat, low fiber, high fiber. Statistics on regain after weight loss are miserable.
There is nothing unhealthy about ketosis, and a quick google or MEDLINE search will attest to that. I would argue that ketosis was probably the natural state of paleo man, since they probably went days without food, then tracked down a large animal, did the kill, and sat around stuffing themselves silly - until the next time they needed to eat and went out to hunt. Fasting and intermittent feeding were part and parcel of their existence.
There's nothing unhealthy about fasting. I don't see anything wrong with trying it as a weight loss alternative.
If the OP doesn't want to do it, no problem - knock yourself out trying something else.
