Re: Need more Suggestions for improving circulation to legs
thanks, hawthorne and bilberry, I'll see if Uny has those in her shop, I need to place another order soon. Taking cayenne in tincture form, Uny's recommended dosage, though I rarely remember to take it more than once or twice a day. I need to get one of those alarm watches or something.
I think I lose track of time when I'm working and don't get up as often as I should. Of course a couple months ago when this got really bad, I paid much closer attention, but I feel like the damage was done by then, so to speak. Many years of sitting far longer than I should at a stretch, and frankly I think even with breaks, if I'm at the computer essentially 12 hours a day, there is no way to really counteract the effects of that. It was probably cumulative. I had the insane idea I could ignore my body's needs and expect it to perform this ridiculous task without paying me back for the abuse.
I feel some big changes coming for 2010 - some are in motion already, and part of all this may be cutting back on my hours and pursuing something more spiritually fulfilling to make at least part of my living. I'm so hampered by the circulation thing now, though - neither sitting in a chair nor standing for very long is tolerable. Walking all day in a mall or anywhere else would not have been a problem 6 or 8 months ago. The shift to a debilitating issue happened pretty rapidly, though I think I had a few warning signs before that (foot cramping). It got really bad after about 4 months of using a new, very expensive Herman Miller Mira chair that I thought would solve my sitting issues, but I think it actually aggravated it when the webbed seat started to cave in a little and the supporting bar put more pressure across my legs. I did a google search and actually came up with a comment from someone who had the same problem - impeded circulation from this same chair, though I think I was already on the road to that. Both my parents are insisting I get checked for diabetes, since my dad has it, and they're worried the leg problem could be an indicator, but I really think it's unlikely.
Well, DH is watching John Stewart, I'm gonna go put my legs up on the wall and catch a laugh or two.
