Re: mirena questions
Before I had insurance, and when I was making VERY little money, I was able to get free birth control and exams from Planned Parenthood. This was for about 4 years. This may be a universal program PP has everywhere, or may just have been because I live in a large, socially progressive city. It won't hurt to check.
But I'd also caution against the pill at least until your body gets all of the fake hormones from Mirena out of your system and you feel normal again. Which may take awhile. Though I was on the pill for around 6 years, I started experiencing some of the same problems I have with Mirena at the end of year 6, and didn't start feeling normal again for about a year after I quit the pill. This is the exception not the rule, but I know I won't be using hormonal birth control ever again (which is a little bit of a bummer, since I am only in my mid-twenties). I don't think the pill is good for womens' bodies anymore, especially after our systems have been compromised once with Mirena.
Ugh. Yes -- the anorexic thing. It's embarassing to be so underweight and not be able to put more on, and when people say "Oh my GOD, you are so SKINNY!" They act as if you're supposed to take it as a compliment. Personally I felt like I looked sick, and felt physically sick all the time and missed a summer at the beach because I was too self-conscious. The good news : I'm FINALLY starting to gain weight, and my pre-Mirena jeans fit again without a saggy butt!
