Re: I do not know if will help, but you may want to think about and try to
I read the articles you linked to, thank you, and talked to a naturopath on the phone this morning my husband wants me to see, who also thinks I should not have surgery. I have to say I am terrified to do it, and terrified not to do it. This has been the worst ordeal I've ever been through, and I never want to experience it again, though I also don't want to set myself up for some of the autoimmune stuff you mentioned. I am just wondering if my appendix has been at the root of my long term gut problems, maybe the source of festering infection for years rather than protecting me from it. I just have no idea. This naturopath uses some kind of computer to come up with diagnoses and mostly homeopathic remedies, and she was saying the underlying causes for appendicitis could be bacterial, viral, or lymphatic, though I'm not sure how the lymphatic part works.
My niece went through this whole process including the surgery about 6 months ago, and her surgeon told my brother that the appendix looked, when he removed it, like it was beginning to leak again, something about tentacle-like fibers or secretions coming off of it. They felt in her case it was a good thing she had it removed. I know a number of people who have had theirs removed and have "no residual problems," though who can say what "no problems" means and for how long.
What I also don't know is if it can really heal up after being perforated to where it won't cause problems in the future. Like what if I can't manage whatever I need to with diet, supplements, homeopathy, etc. for the rest of my life so I don't have a recurrence. It can be really serious, you can get peritonitis and die from this kind of thing.
On top of it I've still got the circulation issue in my legs and wondering if there's some sort of distant connection with the appendix issue.
