Re: Various protocols, herbs, sups, et cet.
I have to agree with Trapper on this one. I had constant pain in my jaw and my teeth would ache so that I had problems even resting my head to sleep at night. Got the five mercury fillings removed and replaced and did chelating. I now no longer have that problem on my long list of health issues.
As to why no symptoms in some people as opposed to others. I think it is a tolerance issue. Just like some people need 10 drinks to get smashed and others just 2 drinks.
Regardless, I suppose each person will have to find out for themselves whether it will make a difference for them.
Maybe there was an infection trapped under one of the fillings. Or their was an infection in the jaw and the antibiotics they gave after the removal cleared it up. Or it could have been any number of other heavy metals that are known to cause tooth problems such as lead, cadmium, bismuth......... Maybe your problem was with the nickel in the amalgams. Nickel sensitivities are actually quite common. The point is that there are all sorts of possible explanations as to why you felt better after having the amalgams removed. So this is not evidence of mercury poisoning, especially when you have not mentioned any of the known symptoms of mercury poisoning. You claim that the symptom was teeth pain. Yet mercury does not cause teeth pain. Here are symptoms of mercury poisoning:

"Signs and symptoms
Common symptoms include peripheral neuropathy (presenting as paresthesia or itching, burning or pain), skin discoloration (pink cheeks, fingertips and toes), edema (swelling), and desquamation (dead skin peels off in layers).
Because mercury blocks the degradation pathway of catecholamines, epinephrine excess causes hyperhidrosis (profuse sweating), tachycardia (persistently faster-than-normal heart beat), mercurialptyalism (hypersalivation) and hypertension (high blood pressure). Mercury is thought to inactivate S-adenosyl-methionine, which is necessary for catecholamine catabolism by catechol-o-methyl transferase.
Affected children may show red cheeks and nose, erythematous lips (red lips), loss of hair, teeth, and nails, transient rashes, hypotonia (muscle weakness), and photophobia. Other symptoms may include kidney disfunction (e.g. Fanconi syndrome) or neuropsychiatric symptoms (emotional lability, memory impairment, insomnia).
Thus, the clinical presentation may resemble pheochromocytoma or Kawasaki disease.
An example of desquamation of the hand of a child with severe mercury poisoning acquired by handling elemental mercury is this photographin Horowitz, et al. (2002).[3]

What I find most interesting is that all the people I have heard claim to have mercury poisoning do not ever mention any of the classic symptoms of mercury poisoning. So again people are self diagnosing because they read something on some mercury is the cause of all disease sites and overlooking all the other potential causes to their problem because they are tunnel visioned in on the mercury.
