electrolyte and/or oxygen depletion/displacement = acidic condition = death.

Kidney failure was mentioned in some of the hospitalized patients... which is pointing to electrolyte issues.

Another mention in the articles is elevated body temperature... which becomes difficult to regulate with the loss of electrolytes.

And still another mentioned respiratory arrest... also an indicator of electrolyte depletion.

... When large amounts of fluid are lost through sweating, so are electrolytes... which are critical for organ functioning.
