 Whatever the reason, I don't want my freedoms taken away.

I talked to someone who was there and he said the government didn't let people help. Government took control and did what it does best... **** things up. There were hundreds of religious and secular groups that wanted to help, even groups of people with boats that were prevented from going in, while people died.  It's gotten to where people think nothing can be done without the government controlling it.
