Re: I want to start Oil Pulling, but....
John,
My experience has been that if you:
1) choose a mild oil;
2) thoroughly rinse your mouth afterwards with warm salt water; and
3) Don't pull more than once a day to start,
You shouldn't see gum recession beyond reduced gum swelling.
However if you do have recessed gums, the big worry is easier infections given less protection around the bottom of the tooth.
And for that oil pulling is the best remedy you'll ever find. I've actually cured tooth infections with it when dentists were telling me there was nothing to do but root canal.
This is simple: if you're worried about your receding gums you should absolutely be oil pulling. Will OP grow back gums? I don't know for sure but I can tell between COQ10 and OP, my gums have definitely improved.
(I was told by a dentist that in 10 years I'd lose a significant number of my teeth because of prematurely receding gums. 15 years later I haven't lost one.)
COQ10 is widely regarded as the one thing that will grow back gums (in fairly high doses). And I would (and do) take lots of COQ10 and do OP regularly. If you do the same, I promise your oral health will improve.
