Re: How we became a society of gluttonous junk food addcts
Interesting article, I can't help feeling that it panders to the victim mentality a little. If people are told its not their fault that they are fat, it absolves them of taking responsibility for their problem. What we should be saying to people is "if you make the choice to eat junk food and drink fizzy drinks, you are going to make yourself fat". Whatever is put in the food to make people want to eat it, doesn't take away the fact that people still make the choice to go to the restauants and pay for this food and eat it, knowing that it is bad for them.
Just as a drug addict chooses to use a drug knowing that it is bad for them. Addiction can be cured, but not without the addict taking responsibility for the choices they have made. Its just hard work, much harder than blaming someone else for the problem.
If parents want their kids to be healthy, stop buying rubbish for them to eat, learn to say no to your children, after all parents are fully responsible for what their children eat, and if the kids get fat, it is the parents fault.
