Thats because there weren't as many dumbed down people way back in the day ha ha. Plus there wasn't as much fake food out there to make life easier LOL.
I'd hate to see 400,000 whales dancing around, a person might get crushed!
Ain't that the truth! It has become an epidemic and is directly related to causing a multitude of health issues.
There will come a time when every one of those people will realize the harm they've done to their bodies carrying around all that extra weight.
Its shocking to see how huge some are. We went to a restaurant the other night and more than half the wait staff were over 350 pounds. The booths in this restaurant are so far away from the table I had to sit on the edge of the booth to be able to reach the table. I couldn't figure out why they were so far apart until I saw the wait staff. It was horrible.
It has become the norm and that is so sad. If those people could only discover who much greater life would be for them if they were of a normal weight they'd never gain weight again.
This is a very touchy subject with many but our society has condoned this with things like in that restaurant where the seats were so far from the table. The table and the booths were bolted down so that you couldn't move them close which makes it uncomfortable for those of us who are a normal weight. If there weren't concessions like that then maybe it wouldn't be so prevalent.
Hey Spud,
I agree with you on that one. Nothing worse than being crammed by someone spilling over into your seat.
But this booth we sat in at the restaurant, I swear if I sat back on the booth seat the table was almost 20 inches from me. I had a tape measure in the car so I measured it. My husband told me I was crazy that it wasn't that far so I had to show him LOL. I had to sit on the very front edge of the seat just to reach the table. It was crazy. It would have fit the wait staff perfectly!
H-O-W,
I want to apologize for my part in offending you. It truly wasn't my intention to make fun of obese people, if my comments made you feel like I did then I'm truly sorry.
I have been overweight, in fact its something I've struggled with until recently, well within the last couple of years when I learned to stop eating all the fake food and start eating all the nutritious healthy whole foods that God intended for us to nourish our bodies with.
As a young adult and for years after, food was also my "drug" of choice until I learned that my "drug" of choice was keeping me addicted to it. When I started learning the food manufacturing plants put addictive substances in what they call food I started researching and that alone got me off my "drug" of choice. The weight started melting off of me and now I'm at the weight thats right for me.
Although I have been overweight I've never been obese, I've been as much as 35 pounds overweight and I know how miserable it made me feel, not only with the vanity issue but with the horrible blah feeling that accompanies being overweight, not to mention the health issues that are directly related. So I know exactly what you're talking about.
When I saw the post about people not being so obese 40 years ago it really brought home the truth of how dumbed down we've become as a nation. I really do feel like our society has contributed to obesity becoming the norm. Just like years ago when you'd turn on the TV you'd never hear a curse word, now its the norm. Its all in what society condones and makes concessions for that become the norm.
The point I was trying to make in my post was that I was made to feel uncomfortable because of one of those concessions for obese people. I know, I know, it was my choice to eat at that restaurant where I couldn't reach the table but the fact is I don't think its fair. Of course not much in life is fair. Its not fair that the food industry saturates its non food products with addicting chemicals either and its not fair that 98% of the population don't know it. Its not fair that the PTB have engineered all of this.
The sad fact is that being obese is not a disease, in most people its a lifestyle choice, I know there are exceptions but generally speaking its a choice. Its also a choice to research what we're putting into our bodies, especially in these times. I have learned to love whole nutritious foods as a result of all my research and its made a huge difference in my life. I can now share what I've learned but the fact is that I'd say 99% of the people don't want to hear it. It all boils down to our right to make our own choices in life.
Again, I'm sorry that I contributed to making you feel like crying. I would never treat obese people badly or laugh at them but I did not enjoy being uncomfortable eating my dinner because of one of the concessions made for them. And when I see pictures of children that are obese it makes me mad as HELL because I know their quality of life isn't what it was meant to be. I'm just saying.
Willow
You're right Wombat. Once a person starts eating that kind of non-food its addicting but they don't tell you that part. I wish everyone would do the research instead of just doing what will save them time.
