Still confused? If your looking for black and white answers you will be. After reading all of the messages so far, your are probably still confused. Who's telling the truth and what is the truth. I don't know the "truth", but my opinion is that we are getting rid of Saddam for all of the reasons stated and the answer is not black and white, but rather gray. There's the economic incentive of the interest in oil and military economic angle and there's the moral issue. Saddam is truely a tryant and a murderous dictator and he deserves to be removed from power and I suppect that we will find evidence of WMD. It pains me that we at one time funded his and the taliban's regime when it suited our interests to do so. Now we're paying our karmic debt for those actions and hopefully sometime in the future this deadly cycle will cease.
What we need in this country is election reform that will reduce the political power of national and multi-national corporations and then hopefully we can elect people with true vision, compassion and ideals such as many of our founding fathers had instead of electing the puppets of the rich and powerful who are causing these situations through their greed. As one example, if we spent all the money that we're expending dropping bombs on people and instead put that money into finding clean non-carbon based energy resouces and also spending the money on infrastucture improvement and true humane actions then we wouldn't need the oil to begin with and could have economic growth in others sectors of the economy and have a cleaner environment to boot.
