Re: terrified - my baby diagnosed with hypothyroidism

Dr. Flechas is the person to contact or better yet visit at his Family Practice in North Carolina. He is not expensive and he has seen thousands of cases.

Dr. Flechas is very astute about the TSH test being unreliable and can tell you exactly WHY in various situations. I have had doctors contact him personally when they freak out that their patient's TSH "appears" to indicate hypothyroidism when the patient has never felt healthier.

I would not stop taking Iodine yourself because you could put you and your baby into Iodine nutrient withdrawal and might experience not feeling well.

I'm sure you have a healthy baby. The only thing that makes me nervous is Synthroid. The patients on the online thyroid group would go nuts if they heard this recommendation. It could affect your baby's adrenals. It is a nasty medicine. The online group recommends Armour Thyroid -- dessicated pig thyroid --or other natural thyroid gland products.

Keep us posted.
