Yes indeedy, that's VERY normal.
Here's a few tips:
Make sure your enema tube isn't filled with air before you insert it; let the solution flow to almost the end of the tubing and then clamp it off before insertion. That was you won't be pushing air bubbles into your colon (which causes cramping and the need to expel.
If you don't already, add 1 Tablespoon of
Epsom Salt to your enema solution; that will both relax the bowel muscles AND the bile ducts in the liver.
Take PLENTY of time letting the solution go in...clmap off/pinch the tubing, roll onto your back or change sides, massage your abdomen a bit...just allow the fluid more time to ease in and gently expand the musculature a bit, before you add more.
When you feel a cramp or the need to expel coming on, do quick rapid breathing through your nose...most often the urge to expel will disappear in a few seconds.
