It could be a lot of things.  It might be that he is depressed because of the lack of vision, it could be depression over something else, anxiety, and it could also be something physical.  It's impossible to tell.

I would have him checked out by a vet to make sure that he is not in some type of pain, that nothing is physically wrong.  The fact that he just wants to go back to his bed may be a clue that something is amiss.
