To proof ones self is to read and understand the wholeness of the subject matter personally.This is not proof reading but making sure one is able to fully understand for one self.The scriptures is a message from god that happens over thousands of years.It takes far more study than a basic read through to truly understand the glory of Gods word.This has no thing to do with memorization but everything to do with understanding and completion of purpose.For when it comes to a relationship with God it does not matter what anyone else knows about scripture.Only what the individual knows not what they think may or may not be true.No doctorate is needed but if one wishes to make it so then go for it.Application would be to try God and see what happens.Earlier you wrote that you were under the impression the bible was authored by the anti-christ.Was there any particular scripture that gave you this impression?
