Re: Cool info to discuss :)
The thing is theobserver, you are not so alone in your beliefs like you seem to think. A huge portion of the world believes like you do. I don't know if I know exactly what you believe, in fact I'm sure I don't, but I know you talk a lot about free thinking and your desire for the whole world to come together in peace. I think you're saying you'd like to see everyone evolve together into higher beings of free thinking, or something like that, right? This is what my ex-neighbor believes, and your beliefs sound a lot like his. Well, if that's basically it, you are not alone. A huge portion of people on curezone believe like you do too, as well as a huge portion of the world. You must have just ended up where you live surrounded by christians, or something, and you think there is a lot more of them than there really is. Christians are the ones in the major minority. And I know the polls and things like that, say there is a huge percentage of people that say they are a christian, but the polls aren't accurate. A lot of people just like to say they are a christian, when they don't even believe in Jesus at all. I don't really understand that, but that's what people do for whatever reason. I guess they just think it sounds good to say "yeah, I'm a christian."
I don't know why I am rambling on about all this. I guess I just keep reading about how you're frustrated that people only argue with your ideas, and I'm thinking, you're just in the wrong forum, cause I know you can find plenty on curezone that very much agree with you.
Not that I want that to happen though. Maybe God has you surrounded by Christians in your life because He's going to change your mind one day. Believe it or not, He has the power to do that. I know you don't believe the bible, but that's what happened to the apostle Paul, who went by the name Saul before his conversion. He was on his way one day to go persecute Chistians, as he had done many times before.
Acts of the Apostles 9
"Suddenly, while he was traveling to Damascus and just before he reached the city, there came a light from heaven all around him. He fell to the ground, and then he heard a voice saying, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" "Who are you, Lord?" he asked, and the voice answered, "I am Jesus, and you are persecuting me. Get up now and go into the city, and you will be told what you have to do." The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless, for though they had heard the voice they could see no one. Saul got up from the ground, but even with his eyes wide open he could see nothing at all, and they had to lead him into Damascus by the hand. For three days he was without his sight, and took neither food nor drink."
Paul was a changed man after that.
God can change your mind too, and he just might.
People just have no idea how powerful God is. They think they can run from Him or pretend He doesn't exist, or get away with persecuting those that love Him, but reality will hit eventually. He's either going to grab you up and love you like you've never been loved before, or he's going to squash you in your rebellion against him one day. We think it's our choice, but it's really his. Our lives are dependent on His mercy and grace.
Romans 9:15-18 For he says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
16It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
I'm praying for you theobserver, even though I don't really know you at all, but I see the struggle you have, and I'd love to see you have peace that can only come from Jesus.
Okay, I better gear up for the hate spew from you now! :)
