Re: can anyone tell me what this means?
Hi Mamaj,
I haven't deciphered it all but this article is saying that Doctors need to be aware of the changes in the uterus that involve growths occuring due to Mirena. These growths include polyps (some women say they developed PCOS after Mirena insertion) in the uterine lining, in and on the fallopian tubes, on the cervix, etc. All of the long names are the different names given to growths occuring in different locations in the female reproductive organs.
The article urges histopathologists--those who examine the growths removed from body, to note that these growths were caused by Mirena (in this study). So it's proof that the Mirena causes physical damage.
It's more than that--it's admitting to cell changes that can be permanent with regard to the cervix and mucousal changes that Mirena produces as part of the way it works.
I am glad you found this. Because, here I sit 4 1/2 months post removal and my cervix is still not back to normal.
So THANKS, AGAIN!
