Re: The acid test?
Yes that's OK I guess and I take your point about quality of food etc.
I am also aware of the use of Calcium Hydroxide used in foodstuffs but in very minute amounts in a controlled environment, but the overriding factor is when one has to make up a solution of pickling lime water then one has to be so very careful making up this "alkalizing drink" that's proposed for it's a well known fact that the side-effects can be decidedly dangerous in the hands of the uninitiated, eg.
Inhalation: Respiratory tract irritation. Coughing, shortness of breath, chemical bronchitis.
Ingestion: Internal bleeding, possible perforation of esophagus, severe pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and collapse.
Eyes: severe irritation, pain, ulceration, blindness.
Skin: burns, blistering.
Chronic Exposure: dermatitis or severe irritation to skin.
Why take that risk when there are many sources of Calcium that we get from milk, cheese and other dairy foods, green leafy vegetables (such as broccoli, cabbage and okra, but not spinach), soya beans, tofu, soya drinks with added calcium, nuts, bread and anything made with fortified flour, and fish where you eat the bones, such as sardines and pilchards.
Yes we need clean healthy foods and those I pointed out are eaten daily by many people. ML may have his bit of land to grow his food, unfortunately the majority of us don't so we have to select what we can to maintain good health my friend.
I respect a persons choice to what they consume but to suggest one should consume dangerous chemicals to add Calcium to their diet is mindless talk when there are safer options to be had.
