Re: Another Excellent post!

Hi SF, that was a great post, I really enjoyed reading it. You know a lot about food and like me you don't like using the word "diet". It has too many meanings and confuses people because most regard it as a "temporary food restriction program" for want of a better description.

I had a friend who was a doctor warn me about electrolyte levels when I started fasting, but people on the water fasting forum assured me it would be OK. I was OK for 27 days,a little weak, but then I felt uncomfortable so I stopped it. However I was able to take lots of rest. Later, I restricted the length of fast to around 10 days, generally.

I have never had the problem with low salts, but if my body wanted salt I think I would eat them. I should get a blood test done some time too, that would be a good precaution.

I think the most important thing is to avoid processed foods and meat that had been artificially fed, and stick to mainly plant based.

I would love to be BMI 24.5, crossing the BMI 25 mark will be a momentous occasion for me, albeit a rather meaningless one. Nevertheless it is a goal I am aiming for. After that I will just see how it goes. I will feel the pressure is off me when I get below 25, although I will be keen to go further. I am around 2 months off that - 12 pounds to go. If I ever get to BMI 21, I will be exactly half of my starting weight of 260 pounds and BMI 42! :)
