Re: With all due respect...Re: Saliva test shows my cortisol levels are low - need some advice.
Wow. Thank you everyone for your responses. Its so good to not feel alone in this and get some advice, and info.
I will take a look at each of the sites..might take me a while.
Here are a few more details about me.
Im Male.
27.
Had fatigue problems for a long time, certainly as long as since i had glandular fever (MONO) when i was about 14. Since then i definately have been well/unwell/well/unwell. But never really right since then.
Been to the doctors on and off about fatigue and problems sleeping.
Last summer i felt very fatigued, and generally unwell. feeling sick, dizzy, mind fog, tired, no energy, breathless. etc.
I had quite a few blood tests in September - all came back ok. Thyroid too.
Then around Christmas time i went downhill, since then i havent worked a full week. Spent alot of time with no energy at all. I would say i was worse a month ago than i am now, marginally.
My Doctor (and ive had a second opinion too) thinks it could be ME, but wants to check first by retesting blood, and some extra more obscure stuff.
Then will refer me to a special new ME clinic which has been setup lucky, quite near where i work.
In paralell to that i saw a sleep specialist this week who seemed to be very good and she gave me some good advice and put me on a program to fix my sleep problems (which btw i have had all my life but gets worse when the fatigue problems hit).
And then there is this adrenal test. I decided to get it after reading around on the net, and the symtoms sounded just like what i have. im going to take the results to my Doc. The ME center may have some expertiese here but if not i will need to find a suitable specialist, though i dont imagine that will be so easy to find.
I agree that treating the adrenal problem may be just that a treatment rather than a cure, which would only come from dealing with the route causes. However, i need time to figure out those causes and deal with them, and i need strength to deal with them too, right now i dont have strength to do much so a treatment in the short to medium term will still be very beneficial for me.
My preference is to go through a doctor but if that doesnt work out i know i need to deal with this and i would look to self treatment if needs be. But i think my doctor and other specialists i will likely see should be able to help - i hope anyway.
So let me know if this shines the light on something.
many thanks
Joel
