Re: Saliva test shows my cortisol levels are low - need some advice.

Unfortunately mdaman is basically right. Hardly anyone knows about adrenal fatigue, and doctors mostly don't believe in it.
I can tell you right now that you have pretty bad adrenal fatigue. Don't be fooled by the so-called "normal" ranges of the lab. A good morning cortisol would be about 18-20. Your total cortisol burden is 18.8, very low total. I know as I have been through this. My morning level was 11 and total was 22, but I had stage five adrenal fatigue. They say if you are stage six you can't afford any major stressor, such as being in a car accident, because the stress could kill you--because of your pre-existing adrenal fatigue. So stage five is not as bad as stage six but its getting bad.
You need adrenal support and the over the counter stuff, such as licorice or even isocort won't work because of how low your cortisol is. I suggest you go to realthyroidhelp.com and post and get advice there. They can give you a link to groups which focus on adrenals. There are two good ones that I know of. Val is moderator of one, she is female and has been to hell and back with her adrenals. I can tell you that its possible to buy HC, hydrocortisone, without a doctor's prescription(but it comes from England), but its best to be under a good doctor's care. The catch is you need a doctor who believes and understands what you have and how to treat it. Endocrinologists are usually the worse at this. Ifyou can make it in person to Monterey, Ca. a great doctor for this is there, his website is http://www.definitivepsychiatry.com
Don't be fooled by his being a psychiatrist, he is great for adrenal/thyroid and hormonal issues.
If you want you can write to me offlist.
