That is an old version, the newer one rejects the protocol
Newport, the post you link to quotes the old Cancertutor page on the Kelmun protocol. Go back and follow the link in that post and you will find the update page from whence my quotes above come. The newer revised Cancertutor page rejects the protocol totally.
As Webster Kehr says on the new page, there is no way for maple syrup to chemically bind to baking soda. Which is true even if you melt them together.
Maybe I am missing something (it would not be the first or last time), but when it comes to Leukemia, how it is possible to get a mixture of baking soda and maple syrup past the stomach acids simply by taking on an empty stomach, and even if possible, how can you get a non chemically bound substance into the bloodstream and delivered intact to a cancer location?
From what I understand, the very act of injesting maple syrup will result in stomach acids, empty stomach or not, which will react with the baking soda and render it into CO2, water and salt, and the maple syrup will be absorbed seperately as a simple sugar. Even if somehow the stomach acids do not complete their job, I still do not see how a combination of maple syrup and baking soda can reach any cancer as one substance regardless of the melted slurry that may have been ingested in because there is no chemical bond.
I guess the bottom line is that I can see baking soda itself affecting cancers from the mouth through the anus and having other health benefits when used wisely and cautiously, but I do not see how it can effectively get to any cancers, such as leukemia, via oral administration where it has to enter the bloodstream and I see no added value whatsoever in the maple syrup. In fact, I see just the opposite when it comes to cancer because cancer just loves sugar.
I do note that there is a good page on Vitamin C and baking soda at CancerTutor:
