Jaw clenching dreams

Ah, now 'No dairy girl' reminded me of something I experienced for years. How could I have forgotten! Something that really used to upset me and happens so rarely these days, but I would be interested to know if anyone experiences this.

I did have this dream a few months ago, but prior to that i would say only about three or four times in the last year, but before that when i was in australia and working under stress, I used to get it repeatedly - sometimes night after night.

So i will all of a sudden (in my dream) feel a tightening of my jaw, right up to my temples. My teeth will close and press so hard together it feels like my head is in a vice. It will get stronger and stronger. I will jam my hands in my mount, well all four fingers of each hand - one hooked over top teeth and the other on the lower teeth and try to leaver apart, but it is too powerful. my teeth snap together and the pain going up my jaw is so bad -= and then, in most times, my teeth start to splinter crack and then crumble.

It is sooooooooooooo real and sooooooooo disturbing. I think i actually have sore temples and a headache after this dream, and have always wondered weather this is simple teeth grinding or something more. I have actually contemplated that I get some kind of cramp at times, but obviously this has never happened whilst awake so unlikely.

anyone know of this? glad to say it is not happening now - but if it comes back strong, what to do?
