Yes, well I'm finding out a lot of things with CS, especially since having my tests done. The only thing I am disappointed with is they failed to give me a size of particle, the result only told me that the particles failed to pass through a 0.45 micron paper filter, that really bugged me because that was one of my questions I had written down for them, I guess they missed it, pity.

Are you using a current limiter circuit? seems like you're getting very large particles. Larger than 450 nanometers? Maybe you should get it tested elsewhere next time.


Another thing I found is that one of my ppm meters, which is supposedly pre-calibrated to suit CS, is not worth 2 squirts of goats water as my results are nothing like the meter readings, yes and I know about meters for determining ppm and how bad they are also, but I considered meters would give me some idea of what I am producing....wrong! it give me no idea at all it seems. At the moment I am trying to establish some corelation with another meters' figures, but this is proving difficult also going on my test results.

I read years ago about using a coffee filter to filter out particles, if there are any, and if not then I would have *some* idea of my particle size, just as a simple home method, but I have been told that this is a primitive way of doing things and not worth the trouble, besides, I can't find information that states the micron size of these filters that is very helpful anyway. If I new the micron size of a coffee filter I would still be tempted to give it a go though as then if nothing remains I would have some idea of particle size no matter how primitive and cheap the method is. Perhaps I will just have to get another sample done one day specifically asking for determination of particle size.

The coffee filter is just for filtering out the big stuff. I don't even bother anymore. It might contaminate the silver. After using the coffee filter I have the same reading with my meter indicating it only filters out gigantic particles.


Oh, just a point on what dq said, I thought 'surface area' only referred to particles. I've read plenty about 'particle surface area' but nothing about 'ionic
surface area'??

The more finely divided (smaller)a particle is the more surface area.

Ionic particles are just particles with a charge. Ionic silver has a positive charge due to less electrons. In the link below you will see Ionic particles. The particles in the picture are from .001 to .005 um or 1-5 nanometers. Their are likely even smaller particles down to atom size but you won't be able to see them with that microscope.
