Re: The "WE don't EVEN know about" January 21/22 mystery crisis.
It's the old story Been There, "chaff and wheat". Business's that are going to the wall have survived this long because of the 'good' years that we had in the last decade.
Unemployment is the fear, many company's that have survived have started to 'trim their sails', so that in itself make people spend a lot less, which of course the country's economy doesn't need. Until consumer confidence returns they'll be a reduction on the job market, much the same as your going through I feel. So at the moment things are on tenterhooks, nothing drastic happening.
Interest rates are being set tomorrow by the Bank of England, which I think will be their lowest since the 1950s, around 2%, I believe yours is 0%, yes?
Problem still lies with the banks at the moment, loans etc. are slowly beginning, but more cautiously this time. I am beginning to feel more optimistic although there is a long way to go, 2009 is going to be hard if we don't hold our nerve.
I still think the USA will come out of recession sooner than one thinks.
