Re: Hello - Warning -mention of food- in regardings to eating habits of those around you before your fast and after.
Before fasting I was morbidly obese, despite always being thin as a kid, but things were different 30 - 40 years ago. It was a combination of things that got me fat. Life is confusing and we don't instinctively realize that the stuff shoved in our face in the supermarkets and on TV is bad for us. Lots of people do office jobs or work from home, no exercise. Smoking is bad, I once did then over-ate when I gave up. Then there are fast food restaurants, apparently BMIs are now increasing as the burger chains enter China. Oh and if it all gets too much there is life's anesthetic - booze.
Hopefully you were joking when saying you will break the habit if it kills you, as that's kinda throwing the baby out with the bathwater! I think fasting can be a good kick start if you are obese, but it doesn't solve all the other problems, and lifestyle changes are needed. To me it's like an accelerated diet that has to be treated with respect, and it is a means to an end and not an end in itself.
