I don't know anything about this "universalism" you speak of (nor do I want to).

Just like humanity has done all throughout history, you can rationalize anything you wish to believe. It is much easier to be TOLD what to do and believe than to think for yourself and care about what God LIKES. God sent a "STRONG delusion" for those who'd rather regard Him as an ICON (like a rockstar, celebrity) and think of Him as a MASTER/taskmaster (instead of "Dear Father"). Humanity has always used their ability to believe something (faith) to simply FOLLOW (instead of genuinely LOVE God) and be a slave/servant (instead of a "FRIEND of God") and resent/fear Him as a PUNISHER, finding COMMANDS/COMMANDMENTS to be characteristic of the god they have chosen/made in their hearts.

While it is true that God chose us, we each have the option to CHOOSE HIM. Then, He will no longer be an ICON, we will know Him as "Abba Father" and our love will be made PERFECT (and live under the PERFECT law) and find the wise counsel of a loving kind parent instead of ultimatums in scripture.

Each person makes their own god (whether they use scripture text and man's teachings to form an "iconic" god or they use a pagan "religion" makes no difference).

"Church buildings"/temples (worship centers) are "shrines"...
Acts 19:24
"The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by man...".

Man's version of who and what the creator is is "666" (the god of A "man"), but the Lord of "a" NEW creation is the real God (Lord of heaven and earth).
