If you were chronically constipated then the first thing to check would be your thyroid function. Hypothyroidism is a source of constipation. And lab tests frequently miss hypothyroidism. Basal body temperature is a much more accurate way to determine hypothyroidism.

By the way cape aloe is way different than aloe vera, and does not have all the properties of aloe vera. Cape aloe is a drier form of aloe. Therefore it has virtually no polysaccharides, and is more concentrated in laxative anthraquinones. It is used in the industry because of its drier nature makes it easier to process for powdering and capsuling, and provides more stability due to the lower moisture content.
