i think the point is that when a moderator bans someone and then that person is unbanned the moderator deserves at least a courtesy email explaining why. if that doens't happen the moderator gets confused and frustrated and feels they are doing a job for no reason and why bother banning or not banning if their decisions will be overturned with no explanation.
a moderator deserves to know whats going on in their own forum. if they dont know, and if their decisions are overturned by unknown people with no explanations, then they really dont feel like they are in control and will get angry and annoyed and quit. its all the bad things about being a moderator (dealing with all the crap and getting abused), but none of the good things (being able to maintain order via banning disruptive posters).
all moderators deserve to know if any of their decisions are being overturned and why. period. they should not have to start a campaign to find out.
