anything more than spotting is a detox symptom. the female of any species is not meant ot bleed and bleed. the body quickly recognizes that the blood letting that goes on truly helps rid the body of toxins and cleans the blood. this is why the amount of flow is directly indicative of the toxic load in serum and why periods get increasingly heavier as the person ages. its not age that does it, it is the amount of time that passes as toxins build up in the body.

you are correct about sticking with iodine. your hormones will even out after a while, given that you have the other things you need and are avoiding toxins in your diet and your usual paths of elimination are flowing freely. you are likely to see more changes before you are stabilized.
