According to the book The Bell Curve , if someone with an IQ of less than 120 inherits money , they will lose it anyway. I grew up in an upscale area and when couples divorced , the women usually ended up broke within a few years because they invested their money poorly. If the american dream is that people have an equal chance to make something of themslves , it assumes that everyone is equal in intelligence.
The three richest men in the country , Warren Buffet, Sheldon Adelson , and Bill Gates inherited less than I did and they seem to be doing well and they aren't the exception .Most wealth in this country is not inherited so obviously there are opportunities to get ahead. Many of the superich give millions to charity. Would you prefer that our govt decided what to do with peoples' estates?
I don't have a mansion .I don't about the price of houses in the high desert but in my hood two million gets you less than 4000 sq ft on a small lot.
