Sobering and true...
Unfortunate too... for they know not what they do. Some of the most vocal born again and holier than thou's in my town got caught up in the lending and mortgage fraud while cashing in on the housing boom... they did live very well and made lots of money and frivolously spent gobs on environmentally unsound hedonism... greed and the riches made on the backs of others though sort of made their bed for judgment day.
One group of these people offered my son a job during the heyday of it all... he left after he was "trained" and realized what was really going on... said he did not know how they justified their lives or how they slept at night. Apparently the money and lifestyle is a bit blinding, the end (big money) justifying the means. Of course most of those they worked with (took advantage of) are now in an apartment, hotel, homeless, or, the lucky ones I guess... grossly upside down on a mortgage...
I wonder what they, and "everyday" people like them, would be thinking about our discussion?
