Kelly, I made my post then decided it was incomplete. I did not know if anyone had read my original post prior to editing it. So, to make sure that members know that I changed it, I added the *edit in the subject as well as in the body of the post.

Herxheimer is well known in both the allopathic and naturopathic worlds. Have you heard a doctor tell you to take medicine and that it may make you feel worse before it makes you fill better? That is herxheimer. You can look it up on wikipedia.org for much more concise info.

In the case of Miracle-Mineral-Supplement causing herx, it is said that it is due to the die-off of the pathogens. As they die they produce toxins. If they die rapidly, the liver which is responsible for the toxin filtering, cannot handle it quickly enough. Ugly symptoms occur because of that; such as diarrhea and possibly vomiting. This is why several users have cautioned about increasing your dosage slowly.

It is not the pathogens that get vaporized. It is their molecules. When Miracle-Mineral-Supplement encounters a targeted molecule, it strips it of its electrons. Both the Miracle-Mineral-Supplement molecule (chlorine dioxide) and the pathogen are destroyed at the same time. The chlorine dioxide cannot manage too many electrons; so it explodes too.

The chlorine dioxide molecules that don't find a target within 2 hours, begin a decomposition process (the CLO2 molecule is unstable). It transforms in to sodium chloride (table salt) and possibly hydrochlorous acid, which the body can use to help the healing process. Hence, MMS does not accumulate in the body as do drugs.
