Re: My story

Hi Motherweary, I love the taste of fresh coffee. The strange thing is I usually drink tea (preferably Redbush or Rooibos tea), but I bought a Coffee percolator between fasts (goodness knows why). Anyway, as I mentioned in a post a few moments ago, my desire for coffee vanishes a few days into a water fast, sounds like yours will too.

For me it's a question of how OLD I was when I started fasting, LOL! I put on weight through bad eating habits and drinking, I stopped smoking in the mid 90s and that make me put on more weight.

Diets were nightmares, it felt like a prison sentence "you will only eat lettuce for 3 months, and nothing else". My weight would go down very slowly, then it would get stuck, and I would go out for friends for one teensy weensy curry and 6 tiny pints of beer and I would put it all back on, and more. Two or 3 years ago I met a straight talking Russian friend who told me I should "starve myself". All my life I have been told that "starvation diets" are bad for you, and I told her that too.

Eventually I got very unhealthy. Maybe I will post a before pic sometime, but not now. I saw a Youtube video by fastinggurl31, I think she has removed it now as she is more into raw food these days. I then discovered that my Russian friend meant fasting, and she knew all about Bragg etc (and some Russain Guy - Malochov??).

Then came the research via the web, and at first I was really wary of it, given the terrible things I had been told. I discovered this forum (which now is my favourite resource), and I started my first fast rather gingerly, equip with enough medical testing kit to run a small field hospital. OK, well perhaps not, but I did but test strips, blood pressure meter, thermometer and even a stethoscope.

When I found it worked, I could hardly believe it. Even better I did not want to drink booze any more (save for the odd jpeg glass of gin as Fonty spotted, haha!). Nor did I want all my usual processed foods. In fact a Braeburn apple became an object of worship for me.

So that's it, now I intend to get back to normal weight (normal being BMI 20 as I was in 1980), and it's really easy. but the thing that really clinched it was finding this Curezone forum, and its members. It's truly like an oasis. As Vx pointed out, there are lots of Curezone resources here that I haven't yet explored, I will eventually, but for now I am happy just to get this weight off and look forward to the day when I get to where I want to be. Anyway, that's my story.
