Re: parasites and salt (a tip and a wag)

Hi Briseis

First a tip of the hat and THANK YOU so much for explaining about salt and providing that link. I'm convinced this was definitely a missing element for me. I got some crystal salt that is harvested in the ocean off new zealand from my health food store. wow. there really is a difference.

i remember reading this article that talked about natural sea salt versus regular salt, and they said over and over that there was no difference, it was all just some gourmet fad, etc. so i never thought about it until your post!

my suggestion - when you are giving out the information be sure and tell people that most granulated 'sea salt' is still processed and is not what you are talking about. if i hadn't read that page carefully i would have tried 'sea salt' and not known what was going on.

i put some of the real crytalized salt on my tongue -- its not the same as table salt at all, you can tell the difference. and there is something really cool about the fact you can see the crystal structure intact.

so thats my tip of the hat. now a wag of my finger - on the milk and weston price. i'm sorry but there are only like two states where you can buy real real raw milk. one of them is california - i live in the bay area - and raw milk is still not easy to find, even in health food stores. his points about dairy are all around the idea of raw milk. you dont have to convince me its good - i milked a cow for a year, i know what it tastes and feels like to drink good clean raw milk from a cow that is loved and pasture fed. not to mention the cream -- omg -- there is nothing like it.

but most people can't access this even if they live in one of the two states - and so its really pointless to encourage them to rethink dairy. the same goes for meat. most people can not get (or afford) meat from cattle that are pasture fed and not shot up with all kinds of hormones. many of the supposed good for you brands of meats are still mostly grain fed.

so yes there is much good information on that site - but it has to be taken with a grain of salt (heh heh) - we dont live in primitive cultures, and even 50 years ago standard american food was much healthier because there wasn't as many pesticides, hormones, etc in the food chain. but times have changed and we have to deal with the food we have access to now.
