Re: Information Please
Hello Johny,
I believe most people overlook the dangers of chlorine dioxide gas in the air.
It seems that the main exposure that people will have is when they mix up their dose. I have heard of people taking a "whiff" of the mixture to see if it is being activated. This is very dangerous. It can cause lung damage.
When
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement is being activated, it needs to be done with plenty of ventilation, and/or you need to wear an approved respirator with chlorine/chlorine dioxide filters attached, and have gone through "fit testing" to make sure the respirator properly fits and offers you protection. Another option, for what we are doing, is to use an escape style respirator. As always, proper respirator maintenance procedures should always be followed.
Most people find the odor objectionable and move away from it, but it is always a concern.
I must also point out that there is some risk using unactivated sodium chlorite as a mouth wash. The acid in your mouth will activate the solution, and if you happen to breathe in, you will expose your lungs to chlorine dioxide gas.
I don't think "mouth" activation of a dilute solution of sodium chlorite produces a high enough concentration of chlorine dioxide gas to effect you, but the PH of your mouth is a variable, so who knows.
You could probably do a test on this by mixing up 0.1 ml of
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement and add to that 0.56 ml water (I think Bruce and Mike suggest a different mix for use, but this should get you close enough to use as a starting point for a test). You can then "spit" into the glass to activate it and then measure the PPM of free ClO2 you get. If you happen to know the volume of your lungs, you could then make an educated guess as to what the concentration of ClO2 would be in your lungs.
I will also add that I have been telling people to avoid high concentration doses of
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement . If your dose has a high PPM of free ClO2, it is possible for this to gas off and be inhaled into your lungs as you drink it down. It is also possible for the residual in your mouth to do the same thing while you are reaching for your glass of water to chase it down.
Chlorine dioxide gas is dangerous. Everyone should read up on it and pay attention to what the warning say. They should also take care in how they are preparing their doses.
