Re: To O
No need to be sorry...there's lots out there for all of us to learn.
And where do you think child2 gets those "personality" differences? Why do you assume "personality" and where does "personality" come from? Let me give some facts you may not know:
Did you realize that seratonin can be measured now? The "normal" level is considered to be 200 - by whatever unit they measure it by. Imagine yourself at permanently at the ceiling of 150 or 175...you would fight slight
Depression constantly. Imagine you tested at 100 or less...HALF the needed normal amount. You can imagine how incredibly depressed and SUICIDAL one would be. I have been tested and I KNOW not everyone tests the same; they differ as much as everything else in the body.
Imagine a person with extremely low seratonin but extremely high testosterone...you have a very angry, unhappy person. Lack of seratonin would just leave one depressed, but add testo to the mix and you've got trouble.
By the same token, do you think every bi-polar person has the same degree of bi-polarism? No, some have such a small degree as to be unhappy, but so far UNRECOGNIZED by the medical profession. But those on the edge blame themselves for what they can't help, not knowing what is going on.
"if you are looking at it from the "biology" glasses then why do you get so confrontational with R- appearantly he should be the victim of some inborn imbalance and none of his behaviour would be his free will. (Do you see what I am saying?)"
Definitely! Exactly what I was trying to get to the bottom of...I knew there was a bio problem (still think testo has a part in this, but bi-polarism has some of the same symptoms) here he either didn't know or wasn't telling us! Turned out he knew but wasn't telling.
Now that we know that, of course it's clear bi-polarism accounts for the acting out and need for attention, etc. That's why I asked if he was taking his meds. That's why I said "wouldn't it be wonderful to know this is all biological and can be "fixed"?" And it can. But notice R never addresses the issues brought up...never responded to the testo issue, never responded to the "are you taking your meds?" question.
So I was a bit confrontational to hopefully find the problem or convince him to dig deeper into the bio side; the right chemistry changes people's lives...not to mention that the loving support earlier went right over his head, so I figured he could take the confrontation.
Hope I explained this all adequately. The future will make this all common knowledge.
