Re: Which vitamin C

Hi Insight,

Thanks so much for quick reply, info & links.

I quickly google'd for Sodium and found that sodium might not be the best choice for me. Here's one:
http://www.fda.gov/opacom/lowlit/hlyheart.html

The whole reason why I'm about to ingest large amounts of C is to avoid more heart problems. Looks like sodium might make it worse? :)

About ordering from the US:

The reason I asked for a UK shop is not because I live in the UK.
I live in Denmark. Here vitamins and supplements in general cost 3-4x more than what they do in the UK. I always try to order from a UK shop. Saves me a lot.

Why not order from the States?
Depending on what type of product is shipped from the US to here, we get to pay a nice custom tax + VAT, ranging from - a total of 200-400%. Oh, and they calculate the VAT *after* adding the customs taxes. That way we get to pay 25% VAT on the taxes, too. And, obviously, you get to pay customs + VAT on the shipping costs, as well. :)
In addition to having the highest overall taxes on the planet, we also have a very oppressive version of what Americans call the FDA.
This is the biggest problem. I have long ago given up ordering anything intened for human consumtpion out of the US.
Often, even the most simple mineral supplement will be held at ransom at customs here, until YOU provide valid proof that it is not dangerous (which you can't, as THEY will decide what is valid proof or not). Needless to say, nearly nothing comes through.
For more than a year, when ordering from the US, I order it shipped to a friend in England who then re-packages it and ships it on to me.
This way I can 1.) get it - and 2.) save somewhat on taxes. (practising for Codex, anyone?)

Oh, I should point out(for folks living in Oz/USA) that the reason why it can get here from England - and not from the US:
Within the European Union, there is no customs check, nor any sales tax added when trading between two EU countries. (this is about the only positive thing I have to say on the topic of the EU)

/rant off

I think I will risk ordering vitamin C from the US, though.
I don't think they will seize pure vitamin C. But paying heavy taxes on it, I won't get around.
