If intelligence was related to conservative or liberal ideology than all intelligent people would be one or the other.

Therefore political ideology is a function of personality type; predators(republicans),independents (libertarians),altruistic (democrats).

People can not learn to think as that is determined by IQ (hereditary brain fucntion).
People can learn to reason logically to some degree but that tends to be irrelevant in political thought since that is determined by personality.

Superstition and religiosity is the normal state of mind for 90 percent of the population including the most intelligent and is thus not a function of stupidity.
Religion is a kind of self hypnotic state in which one suspends rational thought. Anyone can do it with little effort which makes it popular.

If the past tells us anything then we surely need to fear the future as history has a habit of repeating.
