Re: Being Right at the Expense of Being Happy
Hey mooney! Haven't seen you around for ages.
I understand what you're saying about the Jews in Auschwitz, yet I read a summary of a book about a Jewish doctor who was captured. His wife and children shot right in front of him. He made a decision there and then to love all his enemies. He was in the camps for many years. Somehow, he was one of the few that made it through emotionally and physically intact. I wish I could recall his name, but he was used as an interpreter by the British to write accounts of what happened at Auschwitz. It was a very moving story.
Mother Theresa, as she walked around the streets of Calcutta, amongst rotting flesh and decay, seeing dying and dead babies, said that she saw the face of Jesus in everyone. And it was because she could always focus on the tiniest bit of beauty .. even a small flower growing in manure, that kept her focused on making a difference in the world.
For those 2 amazing people, their perspective went a long way.
However, they are truly rare people and I for one would not want to be tested to that length to find my own personal power for keeping a positive and loving attitude.
Love
