This is very interesting about the fingerstick not necessarily being a reliable source.

What you say makes sense about it going up and then dropping. With my husband the breath is my first clue that he's in trouble. But the odor will stay that way until usually he sleeps it off, which can be up to 18 hours. Often he'll still wake up and I'll continue to smell it on his breath. It literally can fill a room. So this is what confuses me. I'm told the ketones are high blood sugar, but all the neurological symptoms he's having seem like low to me. He does get a little edgy and claustrophobic I noticed, at the onset and will go walk the dogs every twenty minutes.

Anyway, thanks so much for your response. I can use all the help.
