Yes, your right. Certain eggs and other stages that may have characteristics in common with plants, have seeds, spores and so on that can remain dormant for many years. You may have picked something up as a kid and it doesn't grow for many years if ever. But, even those type can't usually hide from the Miracle-Mineral-Supplement from what I understand. But, if some old ones did start growing I guess that is one good reason for the maintenance doses.
