Bacteria are generally one celled organisms, they just duplicate themselves. Fungus can start out in your intestines as just yeast cells and then transform into a very ggressive and invasive form called a hyphae stage (they have little tendrils that drill down through your intestinal walls, or sinus cavity, or wherever they are and spread around--nasty critters.) Once they reach that stage they are very difficult to get rid of.
