Re: Vitamin D one more question
In my small world, I've found that most general labs do not look for D. A real shocker was in the multiple surgeries that my wife has had to incur, ortho related, not once did the ortho doc require a result for Vitamin D. Not once. Knowing what I know now, this stuns me to think my mother in law went into neck surgery, even though it was an emergency, that among other things her D levels was VITAL to recovery. For three weeks she languished in a semi comotose state and everyone was just plain giving up until my wife read the doctor the riot act (I was about to before my missus backed him up), and within two freakin' days, she literally woke up, and healed over time, and did NOT end up in a nursing home, and is doing ok. Her doctor to this day cannot believe her turn around. The only change to her regime at that moment was a medical grade dosing of Vitamin D. Our rheumatologist said this is standard. I continue to be floored by this.
Anywayz... it is a mixed thing as one just doesn't stop in for a quick D sampling. Am sure this can be determined through hair sampling and hopefully you will find this level in your labs. But I would seek it out. Before that, if I were not feeling right or things were just not 'right' with my body, I would learn as much as I could about vitamin D deficiency and the symptoms that exhibit from this. It is not just about brittle bones. My wife suffered from fibromylagia for almost 10 years, and I mean, painful to the touch type pain. A week into the D dosing protocol, it just disappeared. Along with other things. Eye sight is another. We both have experienced wonderful things with an
Iodine protocol in the last 3 months for instance, and
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement is yet again doing more things. This is how dramatic correcting D was to us. JAMA has just come out with a new take on vitamin D and a new RDA level, and its use in among other things, the prevention of cancer.
Well, I have beat this horse. But I have seen this D story repeated several times with different people who pursued a protocol. My 79 year old mother is yet another. She was feeling all of 79 until a few simple changes, including D, and she is now bouncing around. Knowing what I know now, and have seen repeated over the last two years, yeah... I would look into D. This is one of the so many things we would do well to understand, but D is at the top of a set of building blocks for the human body, and when it doesn't work, a lot of things can become unstable as a result.
