hey...the old lady. Sorry I'm not american so i could misunderstand, but isn't it a funny way of talking? anyway... sorry, maybe I'm just being picky.
You sound from an old generation, but not old enough maybe? In the really old times, at least in my Italy, families used to be really big, with many aunts and uncles and funny figures you couldn't define really, and children hanging around in the courtyard and being the children of everybody. Then times changed and the so-called nuclear family came, with all its strains due to too much closeness, too small a world to fit in. So my (idealistic maybe) vision is that if you translate the uncles and aunts in step-fathers and step-mothers you can have back that variegated magic world of the old times, in a more contemporary shape.
