Hair analysis

Hi Mo4,
hair analysis is probably the only useful way of detecting mercury problems. Basically a person with mercury toxicity has a certain "profile" which comes out in their hair minerals. Sometimes it can be as simple as seeing high mercury. But often you see very low mercury combined with a derangement of other minerals.

Low hair mercury is significant because everyone has mercury in their body. A healthy body will naturally try and remove some of that mercury into the hair. But a very toxic body loses this ability - and you end up with very low hair mercury levels.

There is work done in the UK which shows that Autistics (Autism is linked to mercury) have *lower* levels of hair mercury than normal people.

There is nothing outlandish about a correctly performed hair test, but it is imperative that the results be interepreted by someone who knows how to spot a toxic profile. Unfortunately most practitioners don't know how to do this as most of this work is very new.

Typically a practitioner will see low hair levels of a substance and think that means that the person has low body levels. This is far from the truth. Reading a hair test is more complex than this. Its a bit like detective work.

When I had my first hair test, my nutritionist thought it so insignificant that she didn't even give it to me! Yet it is probably the most informative test I ever had - it contains striking indications of mercury toxicity.

Unfortunately if you are in the US you need approval to get a hair test from either a doctor, naturopath, chiropracter etc. But it is something well worth considering in my opinion.

JV.
